Holy land Foundation Found GUILTY, Dallas Texas
Terrorism can come under various guises and even charity is not to be trusted it seems. The Holy land supporters cried “foul” as the verdict was GUILTY. The courtroom was hushed as the jury gave this verdict.
The five defendants of the Holy land Foundation accused of financing terrorists remained stoic. It was not so easy for the family and friends. A child who could not bear to see his father accused sobbed out “My dad is not a criminal. He’s a human!”
This has been one of the most infamous cases of terrorism and also the biggest. The more than 150 supporters present there in the courtroom also felt the same. They felt that the verdict was not fair and they firmly believe that the foundation was merely providing charity to the poverty stricken Palestinians under Israeli rule. They feel the government buckled under fear and were unfair.
The air was tense with many in tears. The defense attorneys are silent but there is talk of appeals. This was a setback for the defendants after the jubilation they felt a year back. At that time the trial had ended in confusion with a divided jury. The first jury took 19 days and the second one only 8 days.
The long journey for defendants started years ago in 1990s. Indictment came in 2004. and now the Guilty verdict is pronounced.
